gate and weighbridge vision

Every truck, load and stamp at the gate, checked against your ERP

Cameras read number plates, estimate load and check seals and tax stamps. Each movement is matched with ERP and track-and-trace records while the truck is on site.

The problem

Does this sound familiar?

This is the situation the solution is designed for. If it matches yours, a short diagnostic will show how large the opportunity is in your operation.

Who it is for

Plants that move bulk goods through gates and weighbridges: sugar, cement, fertiliser, coal, grain and similar.

A typical situation

Our gate runs on handwritten registers and weighbridge slips. We have had trucks weighed twice, loads declared heavier than they were, and trash in cane or stone in coal paid for as product. The regulator's stamp counts do not always match our dispatch records. When they differ, we find out weeks later and spend days reconciling by hand.

Outcomes

What Gate, Weighbridge & Compliance Vision can improve

Indicative ranges, validated in your pilot. These figures come from comparable industry programmes, not from TashIT projects. Your pilot sets a baseline with you and measures the actual change.

  • Indicative

    Procurement and dispatch leakage

Typically 0.5-2% of the value of material passing the gate, recovered or prevented

Basis: Gate and weighbridge control programmes in bulk-commodity plants. Depends on current controls, how leakage occurs and whether exceptions are acted on.

  • Indicative

    Manual reconciliation

    Typically 50-80% less reconciliation time

Basis: Automated matching of gate events, weighbridge tickets, ERP orders and regulatory counts. Depends on ERP data quality and access to regulatory records.

  • Indicative

    Time to detect a mismatch

Typically from weeks to the same shift

Basis: Event-level matching of stamp or label counts with dispatch records instead of month-end review. Depends on camera coverage and how often regulatory data is available.

  • Indicative

    Vehicle time on site

    Typically 10-25% shorter

Basis: Removing manual data entry and re-weighing at gate and weighbridge. Depends on what causes queues today and on site layout.

From data to decision

How gate and weighbridge vision works

Each step builds on the systems you already run. Nothing is switched to automatic control until your team has seen it work.
Ask about your data
  1. Step 1: Survey the gate and weighbridge

We map vehicle flows, camera positions, lighting, the weighbridge indicator interface, network and power. The survey shows which existing cameras can be reused and what needs to be added.

  2. Step 2: Install edge cameras

Number-plate cameras at entry and exit, overhead cameras above the weighbridge deck and unloading points, and close-range cameras where seals, labels or stamps are applied. Processing runs on an edge computer on site, so it keeps working when the network drops.

  3. Step 3: Read, estimate and verify

Models read plates and link each vehicle to its gate pass and weighbridge ticket, estimate fill level and visible contamination such as cane trash or stone, and check that seals, labels and tax stamps are present and legible. Low-confidence results go to a person.

  4. Step 4: Reconcile with ERP and regulatory records

Each movement is matched with the ERP purchase or dispatch order, the weighbridge ticket and, where you have access, track-and-trace or tax-stamp counts. Mismatches become exceptions with images attached.

  5. Step 5: Act on exceptions

Alerts go to security, weighbridge supervisors and finance. A daily reconciliation report closes the loop, and image evidence is kept for audit for the period you set.

Data and integration

What we need, and what it connects to

Most of this data already exists in your systems. The diagnostic confirms what is usable before the pilot starts.

Data we need

  • Gate and weighbridge layout drawings, with photos of current camera positions
  • Weighbridge indicator model and how it outputs readings (serial, network or software export)
  • A recent sample of purchase orders, gate passes, dispatch orders and weighbridge tickets from your ERP
  • Track-and-trace or tax-stamp reports you receive from the regulator, where applicable
  • A few days of existing CCTV footage to assess angles and lighting
  • Your rules: weight tolerances, deductions for trash or moisture, and who approves exceptions

Integrates with

  • ERP purchasing, sales and dispatch modules (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and local ERPs)
  • Weighbridge indicators and weighbridge software
  • Existing CCTV and network video recorders (RTSP and ONVIF cameras)
  • Boom barriers, RFID readers and gate-pass systems
  • Regulatory track-and-trace and tax-stamp systems, through approved interfaces or report exports
  • Grower, supplier and transporter payment systems

How the pilot works

Piloting gate and weighbridge vision

A paid pilot on a defined scope, with success measures you sign off before work starts.

Duration

8–12 weeks

Scope

One gate and one weighbridge, covering inbound or outbound flow for one material, with live reconciliation against ERP for at least four weeks of operation. In seasonal industries such as sugar, the pilot is timed to the crushing season.

Success measures

Agreed in writing before work starts, with targets set against your baseline.

  • Plate-read accuracy and vehicle-to-ticket matching rate against a manually checked sample
  • Share of movements reconciled automatically with ERP and regulatory counts
  • Number and value of exceptions raised, and the share confirmed on review
  • Change in vehicle time on site and in manual reconciliation hours

The pilot follows a short diagnostic and ends with a written results review. Scaling up is a separate decision, made on the measured results. How our engagements work

  • Solution blueprint

    Weighbridge integrity and compliance reconciliation

Camera and number-plate verification at the weighbridge, with every weighing event matched to ERP, payment and tax-stamp records so leakage and compliance gaps show up the same day.

Status: Reference architecture and pilot plan, available for a paid proof of concept. Reference material, not a client project.

FAQs

Questions about gate and weighbridge vision

Something else to ask?

Email your question with a little about your site and systems, and we will reply in plain language.

info@tashit.com
Can it use our existing CCTV cameras?

Sometimes. Existing cameras are often adequate for a vehicle overview but not for plate reading or stamp checks, which need the right angle, lens and lighting. The site survey tells you which cameras can be reused and what to add.

Does this replace the regulator's track-and-trace system?

No. The regulatory system remains the record the regulator relies on. This solution checks your physical movements and ERP records against those counts so that differences are found and explained early, not at audit.

What happens at night, in dust or in rain?

Cameras, infrared lighting and housings are specified for the site. Models are trained on your own footage across shifts and conditions, and the pilot measures accuracy in those conditions rather than ideal ones. Low-confidence reads go to a person, not straight into the ledger.
